By September 1, 2017Uncategorized

Well August got away from me!!! Let’s just pretend it is still August for a few minutes!

Grab a cuppa and catch up on WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING in ALLIED HEALTH around the place…

Allied Health LINK ROUNDUP August 2017

We at ALLIED HEALTH SUPPORT SERVICES are looking to save you guys precious time and resources wherever we can… Hence we are launching a regular LINK ROUND UP BLOG for your perusing pleasure! Read on, save for later, share on social – here are some awesome links you, as an awesome allied health professional, need to know about right now…

I have collated the best links I’ve found this month under these loose areas relevant to all of us!  Please comment or shoot me an email if you feel you would like a different area of clinical or non-clinical practice covered or if you feel there is an awesome blog / link / service / research / innovation your fellow AHP’s should really know about!!

Leadership

Healthcare Leadership Blog

This is my new fave.  Relevant blog topics that are easy and thought-provoking to read, but more importantly, have a list of useful links, references and suggestions for further reading!

Just like our resources in our Allied Health Support Services PD library…

The other unique feature of this blog is it forms a healthcare community.  With each blog piece, there is an international discussion forum on particular points outlined in the article.  All you need to do is click on the link and it tells you when the discussion is occurring in your local time zone! So cool!!

I’m loving these offerings this month –

The Secret To Becoming An Emotionally Intelligent Leader

Who Me? Bad Behaviour In Healthcare

And this referenced by one of the authors of the above articles, published on the Harvard Business Review website –

Emotional Intelligence Has 12 Elements – Which Do You Need To Work On?

Blogs & Influencers

Jean Hailes For Women’s Health

This is THE place to go for information, resources, online learning modules, webinars, podcasts, upcoming events – everything in relation to women’s health.  They have a free newsletter, a great regular blog, relevant tools and information booklets for professionals and even a magazine! Pop over and have a look at the latest National Women’s Health Survey results too.

What Were We Thinking! (#wwwthinking) is an amazing collaboration of great minds across Jean Hailes for Women’s Health and Monash University.  They have developed an evidence based program designed to support new parents and those supporting them! It’s all here – such as practical skills, shared experiences, education and much needed emotional support.  Check out their website, great blogs and download the free app but make sure you pass these details onto your mates and colleagues who are experiencing the crazy new world of parenthood…

Clin Ed Australia – Enabling Clinical Education & Skills

Universities across the state of Queensland here in Australia have collaborated together to assist and support health professional students.

This is a wonderful initiative for students but I think it is really easy to forget about self-care as professionals.  The best bit about this blog, is there is a link to great free webcast by the amazing Dr Anne Poulsen who has extensive academic experience in the areas of workplace health, building resilience and preventing burn out.
